It seems like everyone has a cough these days including the people who live in my house. Here's a recipe for a delicious ginger tea that I modified from a cold and flu food.com recipe, and you might just have many of these ingredients in your home already. I had never made tea before this challenge, and now I see just how simple (and delicious) it is.
Ingredients:
Sage
Thyme
Rosemary
Ginger
Cinnamon stick
Lemon
Local Honey
Directions:
In a large pot, add water, dried spices, slices of ginger, 2 cinnamon sticks, and half a lemon. Gently boil the ingredients (keep the lid on) and then turn off the heat and let the tea steep. The longer it steeps, the stronger it is. Strain the tea into a pitcher through a paper towel or a coffee filter. (You can probably use the ingredients again but just need to cook them longer next time. Dump them into the compost bin when finished.) Make sure to inhale the steam because it smells so good! Pour the warm tea over some local honey into a mug.
Store leftover tea in the refrigerator and heat as needed.
Note: these ingredients have been noted to help with things like inflammation cardiovascular health, metabolism blood sugar regulation, congestion, cough, etc. Learn more from this link I found on the locavore challenge site: http://www.ageless.co.za/herbal_remedies.htm.

If you happen to be at Longview anytime, pick up Vaporbomb from Farm at Coventry. It is a more natural version of a Vapor rub that you won't be afraid to use and it smells so good. It's a go-to product in our home when someone is congested.
